April 2022 VetSpot: John Kerver

Our employees are what make VMSI truly valuable.  As a Service-Disabled Veteran-Owned Small Business, VMSI is especially proud to honor our veteran employees by highlighting their service to our Country and their VMSI employment.  This month, VMSI is excited to feature John Kerver in our Veteran Spotlight. John provides acquisition program management support on VMSI’s contract with the Veterans Health Administration, Procurement Contracting Activity Central (PCAC) national Electronic Health Records Modernization (EHRM) implementation. The VA’s EHRM system stores and tracks veterans’ patient medical information with full implementation across all VA facilities. John serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and has direct oversight of 189 Pre-Award Architectural Engineering Design and Construction contracts.

John served for 20 years in the military, in the U.S. and abroad, with service at Tyndall AFB, Elmendorf AFB, Aviano Air Base, Dover AFB, and Ft. Meade National Security Agency.  He was also deployed to Iraq and Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan in support of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars.  John’s favorite duty stations were in Alaska and Italy.

John is proud of his military accomplishments and career, and he’s enjoyed lifelong friendships and comradery with his fellow service members. John believes that the military’s “mission first attitude” and teamwork mentality are standards that have continued to resonate throughout his life, even after his time in-service came to a close.
