18 years ago today, our Nation was changed forever when four planes were hijacked by terrorists. Three of those planes were deliberately flown into the Pentagon and the Twin Towers of the World Trade Center. The fourth plane crashed into a field in Pennsylvania. The loss of life and damage that these hijackings caused form the biggest act of terrorism ever on U.S. soil, with 2,958 innocent people dead and more than 6,000 others injured as a result.
Patriot Day is an annual observance to remember all of those who we impacted as a result of this of this senseless terrorist attack. American flags are flown at half-mast as a mark of respect and many people observe a moment of silence at 8:46 AM (Eastern Daylight Time), which marks the time that the first plane flew into the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
We hope that you will take a moment to remember those who lost their lives on September 11, 2001. Never Forget!
