The Armed Forces Retirement Home in Washington, DC (AFRH – Washington) employs VMSI’s Subject Matter Experts (SME) to provide Performance Improvement (PI) measurements, track PI risks, and support process improvements. For AFRH – Washington, Our SMEs validate metrics and standards, coordinate and lead Committee and Subcommittee teams, review and implement standards to meet accreditation requirements, and recommend improvements based on industry best practices.
AFRH Washington is one of two facilities that house veterans and active duty members of the United States Armed Forces. The other AFRH is located in Gulfport, MS (AFRH – Gulfport). Separately established as the U.S. Naval Home (opened in 1834) and U. S. Soldiers’ and Airmen’s Home (founded in 1851), the two were incorporated into an independent establishment of the Executive Branch of the Federal Government in 1991.
Both Homes currently exist as model retirement centers, whose residents maintain an independent lifestyle in a safe and comfortable environment. Currently, more than a thousand men and women, with an average age in the eighties, reside at the AFRH homes. VMSI is proud to continue our rich tradition of supporting our nation’s Military Veterans by providing SME support to AFRH – Washington.
