On July 17, 2017, VMSI and Boulder Crest Retreat welcomed a field of 276 golfers for the 4th Annual Boulder Crest Retreat Charity Golf tournament at The Golf Club at Lansdowne. Sponsors such as Salute American Vodka, B3 Solutions, Stafford Consulting, Stillwater Human Capital, Intelligent Decisions and dozens of local businesses generously donated their time, services, products and volunteers to make the event a smashing success.
VMSI’s fundraising goal for the 2017 tournament, based on last year’s success, was $250,000. In all, not only did we surpass our initial fundraising goal, but we raised nearly $400,000 in net profit for Boulder Crest Retreat, almost doubling our initial goal! Boulder Crest Retreat, based in Bluemont, VA, is a veteran’s support organization which relies solely on donations from corporate and individual donors as well as dollars raised from charitable events such as this one to provide much-needed services for our US Military Combat Veterans and their families transitioning back into civilian life.
Highlights of the all-day charity event included a challenging scramble format on two championship courses, an exciting helicopter ball drop contest, an enormous silent auction, and a unique live auction emceed by former Indianapolis Colts and Baltimore Ravens Defensive Tackle, Tony “Goose” Siragusa!
“It’s our privilege and honor to support Boulder Crest in their quest to build healthier communities and provide veterans resources.” said Shane Moore, VMSI’s CEO and founder, himself a US Marine Corps honorably discharged and service disabled veteran. “I can’t think of a better way to give back to our country’s most deserving citizens.”
