During Military Appreciation month, VMSI shows our sincere gratitude to all those who served and are still serving in the Armed Forces. This month, we are excited to honor Jeremy Morris for our May VetSpot!

Jeremy joined the U.S Navy in 2007 and later transition over into the U.S. Air Force a few years later to gain additional life experiences while become part of something larger. Jeremy comes from a line of proud service members, including his Grandfathers, who served in the Air Force and Marine Corps, and his Great-Grandfathers, who both served in the Navy.

While in the Navy, Jeremy held various positions as a Structural Welder, Tactical Combat Instructor, and Project Manager. In the Air Force, Jeremy served as a Military Police Officer, Combat Instructor, and Security Operative. His positons took him all over the world. During his last tour in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, he spearheaded a training program for the first ever Tactical Evasive Driving Course (TEDC).

While serving, Jeremy especially enjoyed security and combat tactic training and excelled at weapon manipulations, explosives, building clearing, reconnaissance missions, and air movements.  Jeremy also valued the experience of teaching these necessary skills and passing on his knowledge to newer generations who joined ranks.

Jeremy currently supports our National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) contract out of the Western Acquisition Division. As our onsite Team Lead, Jeremy has proven to be an exceptional resource for new employees and a trustworthy liaison for VMSI to our onsite clients.  As a Contract Specialist, Jeremy provides cradle-to-grave acquisition support to the National Weather Service (NWS) and the Radar Operations Center (ROC). He is responsible for processing all requirements, including those for the full WSR-88D Radar refurbishment and for maintenance and repair projects supporting the Service Life Extension Program (SLEP).

Jeremy recommends these tips for anyone transitioning into civilian life:

  • Ensure your service jacket is squared and medical records are in order before discharge.
  • Take advantage of the GI bill and other veteran assistance programs.
  • Utilize different resources while still serving to establish a civilian equivalent resume for the transition of military experience to civilian application.

Thank you for your service, Jeremy, and for sharing your experiences with the #VMSIFamily!
