The holiday spirit is already alive and well at VMSI, thanks to a generous donation to the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP). This donation was made in honor of Loudoun County Sheriff’s Department First Lieutenant RJ Earley, who has been with the department since 2004This donation directly supports the FOP’s “Cops and Kids” charitable program.

In order to foster positive interaction between local law enforcement and youth in the community, each year FOP branches across the country work with local school systems and civic organizations to identify children most in need and provide them with both a positive interaction with local law enforcement as well as memorable Christmas shopping experience.

While each FOP branch customizes the event to the unique needs of the community, typically the “Cops and Kids” event involves gifting the participants with a new winter coat and hat while enjoying a bountiful holiday breakfast with Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Children are then paired with a local active and retired law enforcement officer to shop for gifts for themselves and loved ones.
