This 4th of July, as we gather with family and friends to celebrate, we also take a moment to reflect on the meaning behind this day. Independence Day marks the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 1776, a defining moment that laid the foundation for our country’s freedoms, liberties, and opportunities we continue to value today. As America celebrates its 250th year of independence, this milestone gives us an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history while looking ahead to its future.

As we reflect on the values that have shaped our nation, we also recognize the members of the U.S. Armed Forces, Veterans, first responders, and public servants whose dedication and service help protect our freedoms and strengthen our communities. We are especially grateful to those who have served our country and to the families who have supported them along the way. Their commitment reminds us that the values we celebrate on the 4th of July are reflected every day through service, leadership, and a willingness to put others first.

As we enjoy Fourth of July festivities with family and friends, we are reminded that the holiday is rooted in the founding of our nation and the ideals outlined in the Declaration of Independence.
